Satellite image of Costa Concordia
Yeah it is one big (and expensive ship)
I am booked on a cruise that will be in this general vacinity in April.
It is quite interesting the response to this incident though, I have spoken with two Travel Agents and they have both mentioned people wanting to cancel future cruises with this line, and in some cases people wanting to cancel any cruise with any cruise line.
The thing is this incidient from my point of view is not something that is a daily occurance. Actually I think if you looked into it, cruise ships may be close to one of the safest forms of transport (no gaurentee but just a hunch I have) I mean take a look at wikipedia under safety on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruise_ship just 16 fatalities from over 100 million passengers in the past 7 years, pretty good odds I think.

Thanx.

Favorite cruise line websites
I used to work onboard ships for 3 years, and I loved the cruise ship crew lifestyle. Here are a few sites which I found along the way that could be useful for fans of cruise ships.
Cruise cal - shows what port every cruise ship in the world is at on that day. Its a great reference for cruise ship crew to see what other ships are in port with them and just to look at when your thinking about or waiting for a ship to go on. Also has link to ships bridgecams around the world.
Cruise Bruise - I wouldn't call it "cruise ship friendly", but a definate must read if you just enjoy reading about the bad things that go down onboard. I still read it looking for staff members I know.
Anyone else have any interesting sites about ships?.

Next Cruise Line to Try
I have been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL. I'm ready for an upgrade! I'd like to do a Mediterranean cruise next, but which line do I choose? Celebrity, Princess? Thoughts?.

whats the best cruise to go on?
Indochina Sail Cruise is one of the famous names for Junk cruise in Halong Bay. Locally built, Indochina Sails Boats and Junks are utilizing local materials and the handiwork of skilled shipbuilders, craftsmen and artists. As in the old days Indochina Sail Cruises are built entirely of wood and timber. The wood featured in the interiors and exterior of the Indochina Sail Cruises add to the rich and warm character of the boats and cozy atmosphere for the overall Halong Bay Cruise..

Halong Bay an excellent point for your cruise holidays!
Halong Bay Vietnam is one of worlds natural wonders and is one of the top tourist attractions in Vietnam. The literal meaning of Halong is Bay of Descending Dragons. A local legend says that a family of dragons was sent to defend the land long ago when the Vietnamese were fighting the Chinese invaders. These dragons had descended upon what is now Halong Bay. Halong Bay Vietnam, famous for its scenic rock formations, has been listed among the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO..

What would be your perfect cruise?
I would also like to add to my earlier post, that I always wanted to do an Adventure cruise to unknown destinations like Alaska and South America which arent usually covered in world cruises.

Disney Cruise
Is there a particular reason you want to go on Disney Cruises? because bear in mind that they are orientated to families and have great kids clubs. Onboard facilities are not really geared towards adults. Except for their latest cruise ship Disney Dream (which hasnt launched yet) she is supposed to be great for kids and adults alike. If you are thinking about going on Disney crusies just because they give access to the private islands then that is the norm for most cruise lines e.g. Princess cruises will take passengers to Princess Cay's which is their private island..

First time to cruise

Mini Cruises
Hi I have been on a few mini cruises with P and O cruises which went ot Brugges, Amsterdam and Le Havre. I think it is a great way to experience a new cruise ship. In Brugges most cruise ships offer a free shuttle service into the town and then you can catch a train into the city which is really easy and cheap to do. Amsterdam Is really easy to do by yourself although dont be alarmed b all the weed smell..

NCL Norwegian Epic
I am sure we have all seen and heard about the much anticipated Norwegian Epic. Personally having seen the photos I dont see anything special about her in fact I think she is one hell of an ugly ship but is really the inside that counts or would you like to travel on a good looking ship that will turn heads as you approach port. Have you already booked your cruise or if you have traveled on her any thoughts will be appreciated..
