A tip for sleeping 8hours on a flight
Maybe bad... but I have a glass of wine and a sleeping tablet - knocks me out. Dont think the health professionals will like it, but each to their own.
This is really NOT a good idea!
Have a read of this article:

Note also the first comment at the end of the article..

Poor Mr. O'Leary
That is brilliant... I am always scared when I get a Travelmole email with Ryanair in it as it usually means they have found something new to charge for!.

Luton Airport Parking
Luton airport parking is ridiculous, way too overpacked and way too overpriced!
Totally agree and I was caught up by an hour just to get my luggage..

screening at different airports
I've never had a real problem with the scanners and I travel quite often...
Sometimes they use them and sometimes they don't.
Las Vegas I have had to go through it in Terminal 2
Toronto - not very often while flying to the USA
They don;t bother me...I figure if I am going to worry about that radiation then I shouldn't fly...And about privacy...I can guarantee that what they see on the scanner would scare them anyway...lol...they don't see much and I would rather be safe than worry about that.
I just wish I could keep my shoes on! lol.

Plane crashes at airport
Why do I get the feeling their customer service reps would be all like "ya mon, cool. No worries.".

Should the sale of alcohol be banned at airports?
No banning. And no limit other than the servers have to be properly trained to cut people off. There's no way to control it at the airport itself as far as limiting it, people will just go from bar to bar.
I agree, rather than trying to punish everyone and ban it altogether, servers need to be well trained to say no before the passenger ends up belligerent/tanked/peeing in the aisle.
As far as people going from bar to bar, again, don't serve someone who's already drunk!
As a bartender you learn these things and if people argue/make a scene you kick them out!.

Booking flights online - still leaves a lot to be desired?
Monarch are not the only airline to do this and far more clarity is needed in airlines booking systems. ATAB found that Ryan Air flights could have a massive 165% increase from the advertised flight cost with the additional charges added on... Ryan Air's solution to this was to bring out a new Ryan Air Debit Card, with it their customers get there additional fees back in vouchers. They are making profit from the fact they add on additional fees!
As Wes Davidson suggested BA were one of the best with only 2% added onto the headline price through additional fees..

Making the boarding of planes more efficient
Makes sense to me. People get SO nasty in the comments. No place for civility on the internet I guess. I have to admit that people sniping at each other does make for an entertaining read though. And then there is Southwest's approach which I do not care for: http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/airport-experience/boarding-school/.

BMI food poisoning, advice sought
From their site:
The responsibilities of the Civil Aviation Authority
The CAA:
Ensures that UK civil aviation standards are set and achieved (Safety Regulation Group)
Regulates airlines, airports and National Air Traffic Services economic activities and encourages a diverse and competitive industry (Regulatory Policy Group)
Manages the UKs principal travel protection scheme, the Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL) scheme, licenses UK airlines and manages consumer issues (Consumer Protection Group)
Brings civil and military interests together to ensure that the airspace needs of all users are met as equitably as possible (Directorate of Airspace Policy).
In addition, the CAA advises the Government on aviation issues, represents consumer interests, conducts economic and scientific research, produces statistical data and provides specialist services. The UK Government requires that the CAAs costs are met entirely from its charges on those whom it regulates. Unlike many countries, including the other EASA member states, there is no direct Government funding of the CAAs work.

What is BEST WAY to spend 100,000 miles in my UAL account?
Thanks for your insightful responses that I've never thought of before, namely Business Class as a TREAT!!!
My game plan was two (2) tickets overseas or to donate the miles to Doctors without Borders, until recently I found a 3rd option called "VolunTourism" -- partial excerpt from http://travel.nytimes.com/2011/07/17/travel/volunteer-tourism-for-travelers-on-a-budget.html?hpw, shown below:
[quote:0b0b3fa606]Cross-Cultural Solutions
In addition to more traditional long-term volunteer initiatives, Cross-Cultural Solutions offers one-week trips in eight countries including Brazil, Costa Rica and Ghana, as part of its Insight Abroad program. Roughly 240 people each paid about $1,990 last summer to paint schoolyards, plant vegetable gardens at centers for the elderly and work at day care centers.
What You Get: A tax deduction. Program fees are 100 percent tax-deductible for many United States residents, according to the company, which is an independent nonprofit organization. Payments toward program fees (which goes toward basic lodging, meals, drinking water and the volunteer project itself) that are submitted online from volunteers with a billing address in the United States will automatically receive a tax receipt through the companys online payment system.

New destinations from Girona
Interesting,
I'd assumed that RyanAir had reduced their flights to/from Girona airport simply because they have now started using Barcelona airport for a lot of routes due to the reduced cost of flying from Barcelona now that the new terminal is in use..

Budget Domestic Flight Choices in Thailand.
Thai Airways flies to most Thai destinations and is usually the airline booked by overseas travel agents for connecting flights.
However, the cost-conscious visitor may find the following options helpful:
Air Asia - http://www.airasia.com
Nok Air - http://www.nokair.com
Orient Thai - http://www.flyorientthai.com
The average age of aircraft of the above is newest for Air Asia and oldest for Orient Thai. All of the above offer online booking.
Thai and Air Asia fly out of Suwannabhumi, Bangkok's new international airport.
Nok and Orient Thai fly out of Don Muang, Bangkok's old airport - more accessible from the city center, yet not advised for transfers to or from international flights.
Bangkok Air calls itself a boutique airline and serves several destinations (notably Samui), although it cannot be classified as a budget carrier..
