5 Keys to Responsible TravelPosted by Abdelhay Elanbassi in Responsible Travel |

Traveling is not just about experiencing an authentic vacation experience at your destination; it is also about making a positive impact on the people and the place. It is quite similar to what has been said: taking nothing but pictures, leave nothing but memories.
When you are on vacation to Morocco, do keep in mind that it is a place of preserved history, and you literally take a trip down memory lane when you behold the kasbahs and ancient relics. Being a responsible traveler is all about doing these things:
- Plan your itinerary - Plan specific routes to minimize the carbon emissions you contribute to the atmosphere. Minimize flying time and stopovers. It has been found that the worst carbon emissions happen during take off and landing.
- Read up on the local culture before travel - This will certainly help you avoid some flubs while you immerse yourself in the Moroccan culture. Remember, even in travel the golden rule applies. If you respect the local culture, then you will be respected as a visitor. Make it a habit to ask your guide what is and what is not respectful according to local culture.
- Remove excess baggage - In places like the Moroccan side of the Sahara desert, it will be difficult to find a decent garbage bin, so you might want to keep your trash (like junk food wrapper) at a minimum. Nevertheless, of course, the desert climate generally does not whet your appetite for food.
- Hire a local tourist guide - You help someone earn his bread if you hire a Moroccan to be your travel tourist guide. Travel companies like Sahara Soul used to arrange one for you.
- Buy local products in the souks or local markets - Your journeys travel would not be complete if you do not bring something of the local culture, and if you do not enrich the lives of those who earn from tourism.
Be responsible traveler and you will experience real peace of mind in your Morocco Travel.
